The Foshan Guandi Temple Fair will officially kick off on July 28. As the first temple fair since the reopening of the rebuilt Guandi Temple, this event will integrate elements such as loyalty, lion dance, Kungfu, dragon boats, Cantonese opera, ceramics, and food.

Highlights will include the Guandi Lion Settles in Temple, Transport Rice Ceremony, 138-meter Golden Dragon Parade, and Diejiao Dragon Boat Ceremony. People can immersive in experiencing the charm of Foshan's history through these activities.

This year, the theme of the temple fair is "Guandi on Water, People are Better". It will feature four main sections: the Zhengbu Pier unveiling ceremony, the main venue opening ceremony, fixed-point performances, and the Lingnan food street market.

Guandi Lion Settles in Temple

One of the main attractions of this fair is Guandi Lion Eye-Dotting Ceremony. A 138-meter golden dragon will be unveiled to the public, with a spectacular parade. Four dragon boats will hold a worship ceremony on the Fenjiang River. Additionally, there will be a performance featuring the Five Tiger Generals' Lion, with Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Ma Chao, and Huang Zhong escorting the Guandi Lion to the temple.

Transport Rice Ceremony

During the temple fair, multiple boats from Zhangcha will transport rice along the Fenjiang River to the Guandi Temple. This ceremony symbolizes the people's aspirations for a prosperous and happy life.

Guandi Parade

A giant Guandi Lion will lead the "One King and Five Generals" lion squad, alongside cultural squads showcasing Cantonese opera, Foshan martial arts, children's lion dance, and more. These performances will present several chapters to showcase Foshan's legendary stories.

Lingnan Food Culture Festival

From July 27 to August 4, the Lingnan Food Culture Festival will be held at Dongfang Plaza, Chancheng district. The street market will feature some Shunde specialties, such as Lunjiao Cake, Double-Skin Milk, Chencun Rice Noodles, Fried Milk, and Fish Cakes. It will also display various intangible cultural heritage crafts and products, such as Nanzhuang Big Buns, Jiang Taishi's Family Banquet, Foshan's Traditional Folk Art (National Intangible Cultural Heritage Lanterns), and Jixing Lion (Handmade Lion Heads). Moreover, the festival will also include lion dance performances and folk wishing games.
