At present, COVID-19 spreads fast abroad while sporadic infections or regional outbreak occur occasionally at home. The prevention and control for the epidemic remains challenging and complex. As the Chinese New Year is approaching, people travel more frequently than the rest of the year. In order to strengthen the hard-won outcome of the previous COVID-19 prevention and control and ensure all people in Foshan a safe, healthy and happy Chinese New Year holiday, we put forward the following suggestions:
I. If possible, please stay in Foshan for the Chinese New Year to minimize the flow of people. We will try our best to create a peaceful holiday environment for those who stay in Foshan, our shared home, during the Chinese New Year. If you are really in need of traveling outside Foshan or back to hometown, please travel off-peak if possible and pay a close attention to the latest news about COVID-19. Meanwhile, please report to the enterprises and institutes you work for, the committees of your community or village the key information about your forthcoming trip (including the destination, the timing of departure and the return journey etc. ). During the trip, please keep wearing masks, disinfect your hand and belongings and try not to touch the public goods. Please keep the tickets and receipts for checks. We suggest you avoid traveling abroad and to the medium- or high-risk regions in China during the holiday.
II. If possible, please hold the online Chinese New Year celebrations and work meetings to minimize the risk of COVID-19 spreading. We suggest all enterprises, institutions and social organizations not hold or organize large-scale off-line activities such as meetings, training courses, Chinese New Year celebrations, greetings and galas. If you need to organize these group activities, please put them online. The numbers and scale of the off-line sports events, exhibitions, sales and noncommercial performances shall be limited. It is required that the organizers for the group activities with more than 50 participants should make a epidemic prevention and control plan and take the major responsibility for epidemic prevention.
III. Please minimize the scale of weddings and funerals to reduce the gatherings of people. We advocate holding weddings and funerals at a small scale. We suggest that large-scale festival celebrations such as festive prayers, temple fairs and lantern exhibitions not be held to avoid people gathering and minimize the risk of transmission. Please try not to attend or organize group activities or dining among relatives and friends. We recommend a private family gathering and dining of fewer than 10 people.
IV. Please try to do shopping online as much as possible to protect yourself from risky physical contacts. We recommend online shopping, goods delivery without physical contacts and self-service payments. Please avoid the unnecessary visits to places with crowds or bad ventilation. If you need to go to the public places such as shopping malls, supermarkets, wet markets, theaters, cinemas, karaokes and tourist attractions, please have your body temperature and health-codes checked and pay attention to the self protection.
V. Please join in the public health campaign and take measures to prevent the disease. We recommend you doing a thorough cleaning and garbage sorting to create a clean and tidy living environment. We suggest you wash your hands frequently, maintain the proper indoor ventilation, use serving chopsticks and spoons and avoid eating raw food. When you go outside, please wear masks and keep a social distance of at least 1 meter. Please keep an eye on the health situation of yourself and family members. Once you have a fever, cough, fatigue or other symptoms, please immediately seek for medical care in the nearest fever clinic and report to medical workers your travel or residence history and your contacts before and after the onset of symptoms.
If everyone does what he or she could to make a contribution to the family and the nation, we will create a better life. Lets join hands and work together to defeat the virus and welcome the beautiful spring.
Thank you for your support to COVID-19 prevention and control. We wish you a happy, healthy and safe Chinese New Year.
