When Foshan intangible cultural heritages - tea art, porcelains, silks - meet Al Sadu, traditional weaving from Kuwait, what sparks will be generated for visitors?
在中国与科威特建交50周年之际,4月8日,由中华人民共和国文化和旅游部、中华人民共和国驻科威特国大使馆、科威特国驻广州总领事馆主办,中国文化传媒集团、广东省文化和旅游厅组织的“物以载道——中国与科威特非遗数字展”在佛山正式启动。
On April 8th, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kuwait, a digital exhibition for intangible cultural heritages (ICH) of China and Kuwait was kicked off in Foshan. The exhibition was a collaborative effort by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Peoples Republic of China, Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China in the State of Kuwait, Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Guangzhou, China Cultural Media Group and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province.
本次设展馆于南海大沥智城西洋艺术馆,将采用AR拍摄技术,呈现“线上+线下”展会形式,打造沉浸式数字展厅,充分展示中国与科威特优秀传统文化的独特魅力。
The exhibition was presented in Zhicheng Western Arts Museum, Dali Town, Nanhai District. Supported by AR shooting technology, the exhibition was able to reach audiences both “online and offline” by providing immersive digital exhibition “halls”. The art display aims to give full play to unique cultural charm of China and Kuwait.

本次展览共分为四大板块,聚焦中国和科威特两国优秀的非遗资源,向世界展示着两国文化的深厚底蕴、典雅气度,以及传统文化在当代的匠心传承、活态新生。
The exhibition is divided into exhibition areas that focus on intangible heritage resources of China and Kuwait, two nations with profound cultural deposits, exquisite cultural styles and, most notably, the ability to inherit, adapt and evolve in modern days.
“丝路明珠——‘一带一路’中的东方文化使者”。通过对茶艺、瓷器、丝绸制品的并置呈现,展示茶、瓷、丝绸作为“文化使者”,从古代丝绸之路的商贸往来,到当今“一带一路”的文化互通中所扮演的重要角色。
The Pearl on Silk Road – a bridge to oriental culture on ‘Belt and Road’”. This exhibit area gathers tea arts, porcelains, and silks, which act as cultural messengers between the East and the West as shown by foreign trades on Ancient Silk Road and frequent cultural exchanges on the Belt and Road Initiative today.

“乘物游心——中国古典雅致生活”。在中国古典文人雅士的生活场景,你可以欣赏到中式古典家具、艺术品、文房摆件等古典文人书房的陈设,了解闻香、抚琴、读画等富于风雅韵致的日常生活,感受中国古代文人以修心养性为目的的艺术化生活方式。
“Elegance of life – classic life lived by ancient Chinese literati”. This section recaptured life scenes of traditional Chinese literati. Here, you will find yourselves in a classical study surrounded by classical furniture, works of art, antique decorations and their classy entertainments such as enjoying scents, playing instruments and appreciating paintings. You will get to understand how ancient Chinese literati seek spiritual cultivation by living an artistic life.
“匠心传承——创新赋能传统技艺”。主要展示中国历史悠久的非遗技艺在当代社会中的活态传承、多元发展,展品包括来自广东广州、佛山的非遗及河北廊坊非遗,还有由传统文化衍生出的文创产品。
“Inheriting ingenuity – craftsmanship empowered by innovation”. For this area, the designer seeks to showcase how time-honored intangible heritages are carried forward in various ways and gain diversified development in modern China. Items on display come from Guangzhou, Foshan of Guangdong Province and Langfang of Hebei Province, as well as cultural and creative products inspired by traditional local culture.
Weaving tools from Ancient China
“萨杜——科威特传统编织技艺”。本次展览特别展示来自科威特的非物质文化遗产代表——传统萨杜编织,以及枣椰树的相关知识、技能、传统和习俗。“萨杜”是贝都因妇女所从事的装饰品编织技艺,被广泛应用于家具和骆驼、马匹等牲畜的装饰上。而枣椰树是世界上最古老的树种之一,是阿拉伯地区“沙漠面包”的来源,促进了阿拉伯文明、伊斯兰文明同欧洲文明、东方文明之间的沟通。随着时代的发展、社会生活的变迁,萨杜传统编织技艺和枣椰树,已从技艺本身演变为文化的载体,得到了当地的传承。
“Al Sadu - traditional weaving skills from Kuwait”. The exhibition specializes “Al Sadu” weaving, an iconic intangible cultural heritage from Kuwait, along with items about date palm tree (overall knowledge, skills, traditions and customs). “Al Sadu” is an ornamental weaving technique engaged by Bedouin women, and was widely used in furniture and decoration of camels, horses and other livestock. As one of the oldest species in the world, date palm tree bear fruits well-known as desert bread, which also boosts the communication among Arabic, Islamic, European and Eastern civilizations. As societies develop rapidly, Al Sadu and date palm tree planting have transformed from skills into cultural carriers that are carried forward from one generation to another.
“科技+非遗”,传统文化创新性表达

佛山市文化广电旅游体育局副局长张远征在仪式致辞中表示,希望数字化展览能够为文化交流拓展新路径,为文化传播提供新体验,让科威特人民能够从这里读懂中国文化、领略岭南风采。
Zhang Yuanzheng, deputy director of the Foshan Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, noted in his speech that he hopes the digital exhibition will open up new paths for future cultural exchanges and gather new experiences for cultural transmission. Thus, Kuwaiti people can better understand Chinese culture and appreciate Lingnan culture.
佛山现有非物质文化遗产项目共66项。本次展览中,可见南海区的12个非遗项目,广东醒狮、香云纱、竹编、藤编、金箔锻造等独具特色的非遗项目及文创产品陆续登场,吸引了许多现场观众及远程观众的欣赏。
There have been so far 66 intangible cultural heritage projects in Foshan. In this exhibition, you can see 12 intangible heritage projects from Nanhai - lion dance, gambiered canton gauze, bamboo weaving, rattan weaving, gold foil forging and more, attracting many on-site and online audiences.
Collections of wisdom from Ancient China
“中国与科威特都拥有大量传统及现代非物质文化遗产,本次展览让我们有机会近距离领略其风采。”科威特国驻广州领事馆代总领事阿卜杜阿齐兹·阿尔玛哲也表示,希望此次数字展能够促进两国文明遗产、文化多样性及人类创造力的融合,加强两国双边关系。
“Both China and Kuwait are richly loaded with intangible cultural heritages, both traditional and modern ones. This exhibition allows us to have a closer look on that.” said by Abdulaziz Almazhe, Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Guangzhou. He hoped this digital exhibition can deliver mutual growth for cultural heritages, cultural diversity and creativity, and strengthen the bilateral relationship.
阿卜杜阿齐兹·阿尔玛哲对南海藤编十分感兴趣。他认为用一条藤编制出形态各异的装饰、物品,非常不简单。
Abdulaziz Almazhe was very interested in Nanhai rattan weaving. He thought it is amazing to weave various decorations and items with a single rattan.
