Ways to celebrate International Museum Day in Foshan
Tomorrow (May 18th), here comes the International Museum Day. In celebration of this special occasion, Foshan had something special in store for all, as "2021 International Museum Day" and the 2nd Foshan Museum Cultural Week are about to kick off!
Where the future holds for museums? In-depth dialogues coming among experts This year, International Museum Day will be themed on "the Future of Museum: Restoration and Remodeling". As the international community has been disrupted by this ongoing COV-19 pandemic, the museum community cannot be immune from it too. Lessons have been learnt from this virus for museums in Foshan, that is, to digitalize visits and displays for visitors.Tomorrow (May 18th), guests and experts will gather in Foshan to talk about how the museum industry has survived and thrived during this horrendous health crisis through digital innovation and the latest updates on Sanxingdui culture. Stay tuned!Two releases to build Foshan into "the City of Museum"Tomorrow, Foshan will unveil Chinas first blueprint for “the City of Museum" that features an "Industry + Placement" model -"Foshan Planning on the City of Museum". Foshan is on a mission to build museums and art galleries in all districts that go into a network dedicated to Lingnan culture, innovation products made in Foshan and the latest achievements on rural revitalization.
Technologically, Foshan will launch an interconnective AR platform that covers all museums over the city. Well combined with the most advanced 3D reconstruction algorithm, instant messaging and remote interaction & collaboration system, the platform offers an immersive tour experience for visitors that has not been seen before. Cultural heritages from all districts in Foshan Tomorrow (May 18th), "the Treasury - Foshan Key Collection Exhibition" (“珍宝纷呈——佛山馆藏精品展”) will be staged, with items to be selected from the 25 state-owned and non-state-owned museums, including 100 pieces such as ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, jade, ancient coins, bamboo and wooden carvings.Foshan Ancestral Temple Museum will put its main focus on three-color figurines and three-color horses from the Ming Dynasty. Special among other three-color figurines from another dynasty, they have glazed color of green and yellow, with a touch of black. The item often served in occasions such as rituals, funeral customs, and even daily clothing.
Items from Chancheng Museum include "Hanxiangguan Calligraphy Print", as created in the past by an owner/owners of Liangs Garden, who used stone to inscribe calligraphy works of 22 famous masters from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty.
With rich cultural deposit, Nanhai District Museum and Kang Youwei Museum will bring 7 items, featuring double-shouldered stone axe of the Xiqiao Mountain culture, a very typical one to depict a life in the Pearl River Basin during the Neolithic Age.
Shunde District Museum will present the "Shunde Xuegong Worship Bronze Vessel". Historically, Shunde Xuegong as the highest educational institution, as well as a cultural and educational organization run by the government in Shunde, this exhibit is the artifacts created when Shunde Xuegong was rebuilt.
Gaoming District Museum will present a Neolithic Jomon grey pottery kettle, which was unearthed from the ancient coconut shell mound site (now in Guye Village, Hecheng Street, Gaoming District). Gaoming District Museum takes to the stage 5 items, including "green jade axe" which was unearthed from Baini Yinzhou Shell Mound Site in Sanshui District.
