The competition brought together 24 top dragon boat teams from across Nanhai District. The main events included the 22-person men's 380-meter straight race and the 200-meter return race.

As the race began, the sound of drums filled the air, and the boats shot off the starting line, cutting through the waters with speed and precision. Spectators along the shore cheered passionately as the teams battled it out, creating an electric atmosphere.

"I'm thrilled!" said Mr. Chen, a local resident who had come early to enjoy the festivities and witness the crowning of the "Dragon King".

Nanhai, known as the "Hometown of Chinese Dragon Boat Sports," is home to over 1,048 dragon boats. The district's dragon boat culture, with its themes of unity, vitality, and progress, is a key part of its cultural identity.

"Dragon Boat +" Boosts Cultural and Tourism Engagement

In addition to the races, the event featured a dragon boat culture exhibition and an interactive shore-side experience zone. Visitors could explore the history of Nanhai's dragon boats through panels and cultural products, while also trying their hand at paddling in the experience zone.
