On December 29, 2023, the road restoration of Nanhai Avenue and Nangui Road has been successfully completed, marking the transfer tunnel of Foshan Metro Line 2 at Guangzhou South Railway Station is basically formed. Workers are at full throttle, boosting the progress of the project that facilitate citizens after operation.

Since the operation of Foshan Metro Line 2, there was no transfer tunnel for passengers traveling from Foshan Metro Line 2 to Guangzhou metro system and high-speed railway hub, which is inconvenient and time-consuming for citizens.

In the past two years, the construction teams have actively communicated and coordinated to overcome many difficulties, such as the relocation of taxi yard, the existing underground structure and the facility modification.

Now, a special transfer tunnel that is compatible with the subway styles of Guangzhou and Foshan will be built.

In the future, passengers of Foshan Line 2 could access the Guangzhou Metro Line 2 and 7 in just 5-8 minutes via this interchange tunnel.

The main road of Nanhai Avenue resumes traffic

Nanhai Avenue is the main traffic artery of Guicheng Street, Nanhai District, with large traffic flow and high density. On December 28, the eight lanes of Nanhai Avenue have reopened to car traffic after 5-year construction of Guicheng Station and Xiyue Station of Foshan Metro Line 3.

Notably, since Guicheng Station is an interchange for Guangfo Metro Line and Foshan Metro Line 3, the construction of interchange platform has been undergone with cautiousness and professionalism. Over the past 5 years, the construction did not interfere the regular operation of Guangfo Metro Line.

Additionally, the construction of Diejiao station, Zhongshan Park Station, Dunhou station and other stations of Foshan Metro Line 3 has also resumed traffic.
