During the three-year national crackdown on gang crimes launched in 2018, Guangdong police busted a total of 279 mafia-style organizations and 1,126 other criminal gangs throughout the province.

In 2023, the number of criminal cases and serious violent crimes in eight categories, including intentional homicide, intentional injury, rape, robbery, explosion, arson, use of dangerous substances, and drug trafficking, dropped by 4.7 percent and 8.6 percent respectively, compared to the year 2019. All cases of homicide have been solved for the past three years.

In addition, compared to 2019, cases of telecom and online fraud and property losses were reduced by 10.6 percent and 13 percent respectively across Guangdong Province in 2023. As a result, the number of cases solved and suspects apprehended ranked first in the country.

Guangdong public security organs also witnessed 27,400 cases solved involving drugs from 2019 to 2023, confiscating 16.59 tons of narcotics, which has led to continued improvement of social security situations.

The number of traffic accidents and deaths have also been reduced in Guangdong, dropping by 15.2 percent and 19.8 percent respectively in 2023, compared to 2019.

The Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department promised to continue the battle against fraud, drugs, and traffic accidents in 2024. This year has already seen a 29.1 percent reduction in public order disturbances and a 40.5 percent reduction in the number of criminal cases year-on-year, as well as a 14.6 percent drop in deaths due to traffic accidents.

Additionally, the department is committed to enriching its services and improving the market environment through cracking down on economic crimes, as the number of economic crime cases solved reached 47,600, and property losses prevented were recorded at 1.48 billion RMB, marking a significant advance in the protection of lawful rights of enterprises.

Further efforts are dedicated to the development of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," which saw 95,000 license plates issued in accordance with policies such as northbound travel for Hong Kong and Macao vehicles, which permitted vehicles from the two special administrative regions to enter Guangdong Province. The number of vehicle entries has reached 10 million since the inauguration of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
